Green Acres Montessori Elementary

The Montessori Elementary Program is based around the cosmic education.
Cosmic vision is to do with a way of understanding the world, and Montessori elementary education looks at the world as an integrated whole. 

Maria Montessori through her work with the children, observed that children aged between 6-12 years had different developmental needs.  Cosmic education responded to specific developmental characteristics. The children of this age group had a different learning style different from the Absorbent mind of the early years.  The powers of the Imagination and the reasoning mind was required to understand the  world – the cosmic plan.

This is the most intellectual period of life for the Elementary child and they are most receptive for intellectual learning and have an enormous power of learning.  The children are really interested in abstractions– and deal really well with knowledge in this form.  The children will be able to follow their own interests whilst working in group activities, or individual activities and supported closely by AMI Trained Montessori Teachers and assistants.

The Montessori Curriculum covers a rich Language, Mathematical, Biology, Geography, History, Geometry, Art and Music program.  Physical Education and PSE will be covered during the week as well. (National Curriculum requirements will be followed).

The subject areas are presented with the use of concrete materials and allow for independent research to understand the concepts.  

The school will be housed at the Scouts Activity Centre Well End.
